Hello! Woody here.  Whew, I’m glad I can finally talk!  I’m sure a lot of you were wondering where I’ve been, and thank you Rufus for trying to cover for me on my blog.  I have been on a secret mission for over a month now, and man, was that hard to keep a secret!  It was so much fun that I was just sooooo excited about it, and I can now finally share it!

Well, I’m sure you heard I had been kidnapped and taken to Virginia with Sarah’s boyfriend, Adam.  When I got there, I was briefed on my Top Secret mission.

“Now, here’s the deal,” he told me.  “I brought you here for a very important secret mission, and you are to not tell anyone what you are up to until the mission is complete.  As far as everyone is concerned, I have kidnapped you and am holding you ransom until a deal has been arranged with your brother Thad. “

“Oh boy!” I exclaimed.  “You mean I get to play a secret agent, Agent 0047 1/2, like when Daddy sent me on a secret mission?”

“Yep!” he said. “Now here is the mission:  I need your help to pick out an engagement ring for Sarah.  So it is especially important that you don’t tell Sarah.”

“Oh boy! This is going to be fun!” I exclaimed.

So over the past month, I have been helping him shop for a ring.  We browsed pictures on-line, and went to stores looking for just the right one.  Once we finally found it, he went and picked it up.

“Well, Woody, what do you think? Think she’ll like it?” he asked.

“Oh, definitely!” I exclaimed.  “She’ll love it!”

Sarah was due to come visit soon, so he decided to propose while she was there.  So a countdown was started counting down the days til she flew from Illinois out to see him.

Finally the day came.  Sarah arrived, and it was really hard not to tell her what we’d been up to.  The next day, we traveled down to Virginia Beach where Thad would “officially” negotiate my ransom and I would then be done with my secret mission and would be staying with Thad for some adventures.  Once there, Adam decided to take Sarah to the beach.  I naturally tagged along.  I watched as he presented her with the ring.  And of course, she said yes!  I was excited for them! :)   And I got to help in the plotting of it!

After that, we went to Thad’s house.  I was happy to see Thad, but I was sad too because my fun secret mission was over!

So there you go, folks.  Now you know why I’ve been so quiet lately.

Congratulations, Adam and Sarah!  And now, I move on to adventures with Thad.  :)

Civil War Reenactment

Hello. Rufus here.  Woody must still be having a good time.  We haven’t heard from him for quite a while.  So, I guess in the meantime, allow me to share with you an adventure I had.

A few weeks ago I got a chance to go with Momma and Daddy Bunny to Aiken, South Carolina to attend the Battle of Aiken.  It is a reenactment of a Civil War battle.

We gathered up stuff and took off.  It was a long trip, and I fell asleep on the way.  Finally, we got there.

After a night at the hotel, we got up and got ready to head to the battlefield.  Momma and Daddy Bunny dressed up in old Civil War outfits.   I was disappointed that I didn’t have one.

“I wish I could dress up for the occasion,” I whined.

Once we got there, we watched as the soldiers fought.  Suddenly, one came up and grabbed Daddy Bunny and said something about taking him as a prisoner.

“Oh no! Here Woody’s been kidnapped, and now Daddy Bunny too!  What are we going to do??” I cried to Momma Bunny.

She just laughed.  “Don’t worry, Rufus.  It’s only Thad.”  I peeked out from where I had ran to hide, and sure enough, it was!

I jumped up on him.  “Don’t scare me like that!” I scolded.

He laughed.  “You’re getting into this aren’t you?” he asked.

“Yeah, I guess I am,” I admitted.  “But I didn’t remember you were going to be here as a reenacter.”

After that scare, things settled down, and we enjoyed the rest of the battle.  It was a lot of fun.

Woody—come home soon! We miss you and you’re missing out on some fun adventures here! :)

Message Home from Woody

Message home to Momma and Daddy Bunny, from Woody:

Mommy! Daddy! Rufus!  I’m doing fine.  I am having fun here in Virginia.  The first night was rough, and the accommodations weren’t the best (I had to sleep in the car), but since then I have been upgraded to decent arrangements.  I am being well taken care of and well fed.  Thad is working hard at negotiating for my release.  In the mean time please know that I am enjoying my adventure.  I miss you.

Kidnapped again!

Hello, Rufus here to tell you that Woody has been kidnapped again!  He had been visiting Sarah, and now he’s off on an adventure with Sarah’s boyfriend.  He came to visit her, and left taking Woody back with him to Virginia!

We found this out because we got a ransom note…the ransom being 5 million dollars!

“5 million dollars?” Daddy Bunny gulped.  “How would we come up with that?  Could we pay in splinters? That is the currency of the Wooden Rabbit after all…and I think with all those downed trees and limbs from the ice we could come up with 5 million splinters.”

“I don’t know, but we’ll have to figure out something,”  Momma Bunny and I agreed.

“I know! Let’s give our lawyer a call,” Daddy Bunny said.  And so…we contacted Thad, Tori’s and Woody’s older brother, who happens to be in his last year of law school in Virginia.  He also happens to be a friend of Sarah’s boyfriend.

So what will happen to Woody?  Will he be rescued?  For now we can only wait and see, as Thad negotiates for the return of the rabbit.  So we wait….and wait…and wait.

Snowbound

Yay! It’s about time! – - -oh…sorry.  Rufus here.  Let me tell you about what I’ve just been through.

You see…I’m currently staying with Momma and Daddy Bunny.  And Woody is off with Sarah somewhere…he must be having fun and keeping busy because we haven’t heard from him lately.

So anyway, I’ve been having fun with Momma and Daddy Bunny.  But last week, we got hit with a snow and ice storm something terrible!  When it first started snowing, I had a blast.  I went outside and played in it, making a snowman, some snow angels, and even went sledding! And, of course, Momma Bunny had to take pictures since snow is so pretty. What fun!

After spending some time out in the snow, I went in to warm up by drinking some hot tea.  Things were going well until all of a sudden, everything went black!  The power had gone out due to all the ice.

Momma said to me, “Here, Rufus.  Call the power company and tell them our power is out.”  So I went to pick up the phone….only to find the phone was out too.

“Oh no! Now what are we going to do?” I cried.  “The phone is out, too!”

“Don’t worry, Rufus,”  Daddy Bunny said.  “It’ll be alright.”

“Can I get on the computer? I want to check and see if I’ve heard from Woody.  Is he alright?”  I asked.

“Well, Rufus…we can’t exactly get on the computer at the moment.  While the laptop can be used on battery, we don’t want to be running down the battery just yet.”

“Aww…” I cried.  “So if we can’t play on the computer….what can we do?”

“How about a board game?  Anyone up for a game of Scrabble?”  Momma Bunny asked.

“Sure!” Daddy Bunny and I both exclaimed.  After all…what else was there to do?

So we began to entertain ourselves by playing Scrabble.

“Hmm….” I mumbled.  “What kind of word can I make with A, E, I, O, and U?”

“Well…looks like you’re going to have to find some consonants out on the board, there, boy,” Daddy Bunny teased.  “Or if you had an E and an I instead of the A and U, you could be visiting Old McDonald’s farm,” he laughed.

After a while of playing Scrabble, Momma Bunny won.  It makes sense…she’s the English person after all.

Scrabble was fun.  And the no power wasn’t so bad….until we woke up the next morning….and still no power!  Now it was starting to get cold.

“Brrr….” I shivered.  “What are we going to do for breakfast?”

“Well, I guess it’ll have to be cereal.  We can’t cook anything, seeing as we have no power and the stove is electric,”  Momma Bunny said.

So, cereal it was…and it was back to entertaining ourselves with board games.  This time it was Chinese Checkers by candlelight.

Soon, I wasn’t too sure how much more I could take.  I was bundled up as best I could, and I was still shivering.  So I crept closer to the candles trying to stay warm.

By the third day, it was absolutely freezing in the house.  And still no power.  So we again bundled up and sat in front of a bunch of candles…this time playing Sorry.

“Sorry!” I called out, as I sent Daddy Bunny’s piece back to start.  He grumbled a bit…and I soon found myself being sent back to start with a big loud “Sorry!” from him.  It was lots of fun.

But, we were getting sick of no power and freezing in our own home.  Finally, Daddy Bunny decided he was going to go invest in a generator.  We ventured out into the snow and ice and slipped and slid out to town to try to find a generator.

“Are we ever going to thaw out?” I asked Momma.

“I hope so,” she said, while we waited in line for a generator.  And waited.  And waited.  Finally, we managed to get a hold of a generator.  We were sooooo happy!  We would finally be able to warm up again!

We sang all the way home and were quite cheerful.  It had been a couple of long, very, very cold days.

As soon as we got home, we discovered that the power had come back on.  Just our luck, as soon as we got a generator the power came back on without it.

Anyway….we finally have power back, and so I’m finally able to get on and post this!  And now, I’d like to share a couple of pictures from our couple of days of being snowbound.  Enjoy!

And here I am trying to stay warm by sitting by the candles.

Flight #### now boarding

Well folks…Woody here again.  After Sarah and I left Momma and Daddy’s, we travelled to Springfield, where she lives.  I had fun.  Her family is interesting.  And then it came time to pack for a ball and visiting her boyfriend in Virginia.

“Alright Woody,” she said, grabbing a big suitcase.  “See if you can fit in there.”

“Ok!” I exclaimed, as I hopped in.  Unfortunately, I was too big, and wouldn’t fit.

“Oh no!” she exclaimed.  “I’m afraid I can’t take you as a stow-away in my bag if you don’t fit.”

“Well, couldn’t I just come aboard the plane with you?” I asked hopefully.

“No,” she sighed.  “You’d have to have your own ticket.”

“Oh no!” I exclaimed.  “You’re going adventuring and leaving me behind?” I began to cry.

“I’m sorry,” she consoled.  “I had hoped the suitcase would be big enough.”

“Well, wh-wh-what am I g-g-going to do here if you leave me?” I sobbed.

After a minute or two, she had an idea.  “Come with me,” she said.  So I followed her to her room, where she introduced me to Phil, a red plastic frog, and to Ed, a rubber lizard.  “Now, see, Phil and Ed here have become friends.  But Ed has to go back with me, because he was just visiting.  He belongs to my boyfriend’s brother, who misses him and wants him back.  But poor Phil here will be sad to see Ed go.  So I think it would be a good idea for you to keep Phil company.”

“Ok, I guess I can do that,” I whimpered, still trying to recover from crying.

Well, anyway, the time came for Sarah to leave.  Ed was packed in her stuff (he being a lot smaller and easier to pack than I was), having said his goodbyes to Phil.  After they left, I started talking to Phil.

“Well, Phil, I guess it’s you and me now.  I know you’re sad about Ed leaving, and I’m sad I don’t get to go like Sarah and I had hoped, so how about you and I play and have some fun while they’re gone?”

“Ok,” Phil said, with a tear in his eye at having had to say bye to his new friend.

Over the next several days, Phil and I had a lot of fun.  We played games.  We did a lot of hopping.  I told him about missing my friend Rufus, and how he reminded me of him just a little bit (both being frogs you know).  And by the time Sarah came back, I had a new friend, and Phil wasn’t so sad anymore.

So you see…I may have missed my flight, but it didn’t turn out as bad as I had thought.

Until next time….

Visiting Family

Hello, Woody here again.  Let me continue where I left off last time.  We were home visiting Momma and Daddy.  We had a lot of fun.  We got to see Tori’s and my brother again, as well as meet his girlfriend.  She’s nice.  I like her.  It was nice to finally get to meet her.  I had worked with her a bit during the time I played an on-line game called King of the World (that’s a whole different set of adventures I had on-line playing the game…maybe some day I’ll write about them too).

Rufus and I got a good laugh when Dad tried to get into his Christmas present early.  He tried inspecting it with a magnifying glass to find weak points in its wrappings, but it still didn’t help.  Tori, Aaron and Momma still wouldn’t let him get into his present.  Every time he thought he’d found a weak spot, they’d quickly put tape over it to keep him from getting into it.

So to keep Dad busy, Mom put him to work vacuuming.  Rufus and I helped.  We had fun.  We got to ride on the vacuum cleaner about like that time we took a ride on Spot at Tori’s house.

Then later our friend Sarah came to visit.  We had fun visiting with her.  She enjoyed the present I had made for her: a scrapbook with pictures from different adventures we had been on together.  She’s taken me lots of places.  So I was of course excited when she said I could come adventure with her again.

“You know, Woody,” she said.  “I’m going to Virginia in a few days to see my boyfriend and to attend a ball with him.  I think you’d have a lot of fun meeting him and going to a ball with us.”

“Yay! That does sound like a lot of fun!” I exclaimed gleefully.

So it was all set.  I would go back with her and travel to Virginia to meet her boyfriend.

So the next morning I was quite disappointed when there was ice all over the ground.  We weren’t going to be going anywhere anytime soon.  So we waited, and waited, and waited, until the ice cleared up enough that Sarah and I could leave.

“Goodbye, Rufus,” I said sadly. “I’m going to miss you.  You take good care of Momma and Daddy in my absence.”

“Ok, Woody,” Rufus replied, tearfully.  “I wish I could go with you.”

“I’m sure you’ll have fun adventures with Momma and Daddy,” I told him.  And after saying good bye, I took off with Sarah on another adventure.

So how will things work out with my adventure with Sarah? Stay tuned….

Christmas break

Hello, folks! Woody here.  Let me take a break from blogging my Insanity 101 adventures to tell you about our latest adventure.  You see, Rufus and I headed back home for Christmas with Tori and Aaron.

“This is going to be fun!” I exclaimed.  “I can’t wait to see Mommy and Daddy again.”

“Yep, it will be fun,” Rufus agreed.

“Hey, I have a great idea,” I suggested.  “Why don’t we ride in the trunk? It’d be lots of fun!”

“Alright, let’s try it.  Do you think Tori and Aaron would let us?” asked Rufus.

“Sure,” I replied.  “Why not?”

So we asked Tori if we could ride in the trunk.  She looked at us like we were crazy, and asked, “Are you sure you want to ride in the trunk? It’s a very long trip.”

“Yes, we’re sure,” we replied, so she finally agreed.

When it came time to pack up and leave, sure enough, we got to ride in the trunk.  Unfortunately, the packages were put up in the cab in the back seat with the birds, so we couldn’t sit there and get into them on the way.

“Aww,” complained Rufus.  “I was really hoping the presents would be back here with us.  Then we could get into them on the way home without them knowing.”

“You do realize that you’re talking about Tori and Aaron here,” I reminded him.  “They have degrees in physics after all…they’re not going to be that dumb to leave two kids like us alone with Christmas presents for hours.”

So we settled in for the trip.  Since we were leaving at night, we settled down to sleep.  The next morning we woke up and decided we needed a stretch break.  So Rufus and I pounded on the back of the trunk until they stopped and came back and let us out for a break.

“Omph!” I said as I stumbled out of the trunk for a break.  Rufus, being smaller, hopped out with ease.

“Haha! You’re getting stiff from riding back in the trunk aren’t you?” he teased.

After our break, we hopped back in and took off again.  Eventually, I began to get bored.   I was getting stiff, and there was nothing to do back there.  So I started trying to find ways to amuse myself.  Rufus was starting to get bored too…so we started playing games.  He was small, and could move around a whole lot easier that I could, so we began a game of hide-and-seek…he hid, I sought. It wasn’t easy, since the trunk was pretty packed and there wasn’t a whole lot of room to begin with.  But Rufus managed to find hiding places in the suitcases and behind things.  It at least cured our boredom.

About the time we tired of that, I began to wonder if we were going to ever get there.  It was taking forever! So we began to pound on the back of the trunk again, crying out, “Are we there yet? Are we there yet?”  I wasn’t even sure if they could hear us until Tori came and opened the trunk and let us out for another break, announcing that we were not there yet and still had a while to go.  So after another break, we decided to give up and take another nap.

Finally, after what seemed like a really long time and I began to think we’d never get there, Tori opened the trunk and let us out.  We had finally made it!

I hopped out of the trunk…though I think it was more of a tumbling out of the trunk.  I landed with a thud on the ground.  “Omph!” I mumbled.  I was suddenly very stiff and couldn’t move much.  Momma and Daddy came over and helped me up and into the house.  After a while, I finally began to loosen up.

“Wow,” I said.  “I didn’t realize I was that stiff from riding in the trunk.  Remind me not to do that again…at least not on long trips.  Whose bright idea was that anyway?” I complained.

Rufus just laughed.  “It was your hare-brained idea, silly!” he said.  At that…everyone laughed.  And eventually I loosened up enough to laugh at myself as well.  After all…it was fun to be home again, and it sure had been one interesting adventure!

Now that I shared our adventure of getting home…next time I’ll share what happened while I was home.

Until then….

The Rescue

Well folks…Rufus here.  Sorry we haven’t posted in a while, but we have been busy with the holidays, which is another story for another time.  Woody and I traveled back to Illinois, and I am now staying with Momma and Daddy Bunny.  They have 2 laptops, and only one Internet connector…which they are always fighting over who gets to use it.  But at the moment, they’re gone…so I get to use it! :)

Anyway….to finish telling the story I started before Christmas.  We had our plan all laid out.  Finally, one evening, Tori and several Insanity 101 members and I launched our attack:  we paid a visit to one of the kidnappers.  While several of us were standing around talking to him, one of the girls snuck in and swiped him back.  Then we all ran off, taking Woody with us.  Our plan of attack had worked!  I couldn’t believe it had been that simple.

Afterward, we met up with more of Tori’s friends, including Aaron, as well as a few friends that weren’t part of Insanity 101.  We were going to watch a movie, but it wasn’t yet time for it to start.  So while we waited, we sat around and visited, played cards, and drank coffee.  Aaron also began teaching people how to ballroom dance.  Woody looked like he was having a blast….he got to dance with several of the girls.  Then Woody taught us a bit of the bunny hop.  It was lots of fun.

Finally, we got to see the movie.  It was a good movie, and also lots of fun.  By the time it was over, it was getting late, so we all headed off to home.  Woody decided he wanted to go with one of the girls from Insanity 101, and take his turn adventuring with her.

So there you go, folks.  We had rescued Woody, all had a fun time, and Woody was off for another fun adventure!

Until next time….

–Rufus

Planning a rescue

Hi! Rufus here to tell you how Woody and I became good friends.  You see, when I was really little, I lived in a small fish pond in the yard at Woody’s parents’ house.  My family had abandoned me, and I had taken up residence in their little pond.  I had seen Woody around a few times…but I had never actually had the chance to meet him.  Well, one day, I overheard Woody’s parents discussing about his latest predicament and wondering and worrying about him.

“He’s been kidnapped, again!”  wailed Mrs. Bunny.  “Whatever are we going to do?”

“Now don’t worry, I’m sure he’s alright,” consoled Mr. Bunny.  “I’m sure Tori and her friends will figure out how to rescue him.”

At this point I realized that Woody could probably use some help.  So I hopped over to them and introduced myself.

“Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Bunny,” I said.  “My name is Rufus.  I couldn’t help but overhear your discussion about poor Woody.  If there’s anything I can do, I’d be glad to help.”

“Well, hello there, Rufus,” Mr. Bunny said.  “Won’t you come inside?  It’s rather cold out to be living out here…especially in that cold water.  Why it could easily freeze!”

So…as I was a bit cold, I accepted.  And that was how I came to “live” with Woody and his family.

After warming up, Mr. Bunny explained the situation.  “Now here’s what you can do to help.  I would like you to go to Tori’s and help her and her friends come up with a plan to try and rescue poor Woody.”

“Ok!” I agreed.  And so I was soon on my way to Tori’s.

Once I arrived at Tori’s, we sat down and discussed Woody’s predicament.  We decided to gather some of the other Insanity 101 members and work out a plan.

A little bit later,  we were all gathered together at Tori’s to discuss a plan of attack.

“Well,” said one member.  “We know who it is that kidnapped him, and who is currently holding him.  Why not one evening we just sneak over there and swipe him back?”

“That sounds a little too easy,” said another.

“Yeah,” I agreed.  “Would it work?”

“Well….they won’t be expecting it.  We’ll have the advantage of it being a surprise.”

“Ok….” Tori said, a bit hesitantly. “But we better come prepared for anything.”

And with that, we started preparing our attack and getting everything planned out.  The more we had helping, the easier it might be, as we would certainly outnumber them.  Once we had everything planned out, there wasn’t anything else we could do except wait.  And wait.  And wait.

Well, dear readers, tune in next time to see what happens.

–Rufus
